Shop with a Cop!
10/9/2024
We are preparing for out 2024 Shop with a Cop program. If you are not familiar with the program, it joins children who are in need with local law enforcement officers, providing the children with money to shop for Christmas presents for heir families and themselves. This program is funded completely from donations. Not only do the children get a chance to purchase Christmas presents that they otherwise would not be able to buy, but they also get a chance to build a positive relationship with law enforecement.
Underprivileged children who participate in the program are chosen by law enforcement officers. This program is for families who otherwise would not have a Christmas. This program is not for children in your class who are struggline with discipline issues.
Children and officers meet the morning of Shop with a Cop wherethey travel together in a law enforcement vehicle, with lights and siren. First, they enjoy a breakfast donated by McDonalds and then they go to Walmart to shop.
The program benefits children in Madison, Fremont, Jefferson, Clark and Teton Counties. Law Enforcement Agencies from the Rexburg Police Department, Madison County Sheriff's Office, St. Anthony Police Department, Fremont County Sheriff's Office, Rigby Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, CLark and Teton CountySheriff's Offices, Fish and Game, and the Idaho State Police Department participate in the shopping experience.
We are asking for our help. If ou have a student in your class that could benefit from this program, please fill out our 2024 Shop with a Cop Submission Form. Children between the ages of 4-11 actually shop, but the program helps the entire family. Please be specific as to why ou feel the family may benefit from the program as our committee must narrow down mumerous families and the more information we have the better. If you know of finacial, medical, emotional, or any other needs of the family, please include hose on the form. Please do not contact the families directly as this form does not guarantee they will be able to participate.
If you should have any questions, please get a hold of us as 208-359-3008 or your School Resource Officer and we would be happy to answer them for you. Our deadline for turning in names is October 25, 2024.
Thank you for all that you do for the children of our communities.
